What determines that a person is successful in life?

Well it seems that the answer is in our genes.

Certain genes could influence the academic achievement that a person will achieve.

Apparently three genes: DAT1, DRD2 and DRD4, are associated with the behavior of a person, including the motivation, the intelligence, the Attention, the violence and the cognitive habilyties.

This is demonstrated in a new study that analyzed data from 1,674 American adolescents when they were in intermediate or high school. The study ended when most of the respondents were between 24 and 32 years old.

All study participants, including their parents, were interviewed and provided DNA samples.

The genes discovered correspond to the dopamine transporter and the genes of its receptor, and although each person has the genes DAT1, DRD2 and DRD4What is interesting are the alleles, that is, the molecular differences within genes.

It was found that people with certain alleles of these genes reached higher educational levels.

Previous studies had already shown that levels of dopamine are involved in the control of impulsive behavior, attention and intelligence.

Does having these genetic variants always guarantee success?

No, only the possession of these alleles does not provide any guarantee that a person will achieve a higher level of education. It just means that these individuals have a greater probability of pursuing higher education.

The effects of these genes are produced indirectly, through memory, the tendency to violence and impulsivity, which are known predictors of a child's school success.
